My 6 year old is in her first Sunburst pageant. We have always done Natural Pageants. Is Sunburst natural or should I put make up on her and how much. Also should I buy a glitz dress or can she use one of her gowns from the Natural pageants?

I personally don’t like to see tons of makeup on little kids (under 12), whether it’s for cheerleading, dance, figure skating, or whatever. But other than that, I don’t see anything wrong with young kids doing cheer, and I really don’t consider it a "glitz and glamour" activity. Competitive cheerleading, at any age, is a very difficult sport that requires advanced skills and hours of practice each week. Those kids work hard! They condition, they sweat, they get bumps & bruises & sprains… just like kids who play any other sport. The fact that they wear cute little skirts and glittery bows in competition, instead of shorts and a jersey, might make it seem "glamorous", but 99% of the time, cheerleaders train just as hard as any athlete. If a kid enjoys it, why not let her do it? It’s a lot better than having her sit at home watching TV or playing a computer game!
